My husband and I were married eight years ago (on St. Patrick's Day). Shortly before our 3rd anniversary, we were blessed with the arrival of our son, Gabriel ("Gabe"). I often joke that Gabe's arrival into our family was about as subtle as being hit by a Mack Truck. We now know that our unique struggles were in part due to an invisible disease that would become all too visible as time went on... Autism. Since receiving Gabe's diagnosis of Autism, we have clung to humor and sarcasm as coping mechanisms. We believe firmly in the old adage, "Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying." Laughter has proven to be our best medicine time and again, even when the humor turns dark.
I am married to an amazing man who is funny, caring, and "slightly" high-strung. He loves me and puts up with me, so that qualifies him for sainthood in my opinion!
I am the proud (and often sleep-deprived) mother of a wild and crazy 6 year old who believes sleep is overrated. I am a stay at home mom and organizer of an in-home therapy program (for the wild and crazy 6 yr. old).
